June 2007

No meeting tonight due to so many people planning to be on vacation.  Many Arvin & Lamont folks make an annual pilgrimage to Oklahoma, and apparently going in June when it is so humid you can't take a breathe is the best time to do it!!!  My Mom and Dad were raised around Poteau (e.g., Heavener, Howe, etc.), and Momma always said that the best thing that ever came out of Oklahoma was Route 66;  Daddy never agreed with her on that and as a consequence, he went back frequently to visit the 'Home land' and the rest of us (Momma and six kids), stayed home and 'enjoyed' Lamont.
